Route Overview
Explore one of North Maluku’s least-travelled diving regions, where hard-coral gardens, seamounts, reef walls, wartime wrecks, and night dives shape the journey. Guests travel from Ternate toward Dagasuli, Kolorai, Morotai, Metita, Rao, Doi, and Nusa Kahatole, combining remote reef diving with the history and marine life of North Halmahera and Morotai.

Itinerary Note
This is a sample itinerary. Routes, dive sites, schedules, and activities may be adjusted due to weather, sea conditions, operational requirements, or other circumstances beyond the operator’s control.
Guests board Malaillo at Ternate Harbour and settle in with a boat and dive briefing before the cruise begins toward Dagasuli Island. As this is a long crossing of around 87 nautical miles, there is no dive on embarkation day.
Spend the day diving around Dagasuli Island, where hard-coral gardens, soft corals, and seamount scenery create a strong opening to the route. Large schools of fusiliers are often seen across the reef, with blacktip reef sharks commonly appearing in the surrounding water.
Dive around Kolorai Island, beginning at The Canyon, where reef formations and schooling fish create an active underwater setting. The day continues to Sussie Wreck and Kolorai Reef, combining coral slopes, wreck exploration, and chances to see turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays, and passing mobula rays when conditions are favourable.
Explore the seamounts and ridges around Tabailenge Island, located northeast of Morotai. The dives here may bring schooling fusiliers, surgeonfish, Napoleon wrasse, and reef sharks, before the day ends with a night dive where octopus, squid, and ghost pipefish are commonly seen.
Begin with Lompong Utara Shipwreck, where yellow snapper and batfish gather around the structure. Continue to Karang Buho-Buho before exploring the Bristol Plane Wreck, where aircraft remains, jeeps, and tyres rest on a sloping reef. The day ends with a night dive at Tanjung Pandanga, with chances to see ghost pipefish and epaulette sharks.
Spend the day diving Womouw Seamount, where steep drop-offs and hard-coral tops attract schooling fish around the reef. After three dives around the seamount, the day continues with a night dive on Metita House Reef.
Begin the day diving the reef west of Metita, where sloping coral formations and ridges create a varied underwater landscape. The remaining dives continue around Metita Island, followed by a night dive at Tanjung Pandanga.
Dive around Rao Island, where canyons, swim-throughs, ledges, walls, and hard-coral slopes create a varied underwater landscape. Sites such as Tanjung Garam, Batu Aru, and Saminyamau may bring reef sharks, eagle rays, schooling fish, and strong reef scenery throughout the day.
Spend the day around Doi Island, where coral gardens, ridges, walls, and caverns create plenty of variety across the dives. Sites may include Jackpot, Wonderwall, Doi Channel, and Muka Kampung, with opportunities to see reef sharks, tuna, turtles, cuttlefish, nudibranchs, and smaller creatures hiding among the coral and rock formations.
Complete the diving programme around Nusa Kahatole with two final dives. The area features sloping reefs covered with hard-coral gardens, large bommies, sea fans, and gorgonians, with schooling fish, Napoleon wrasse, and reef sharks often seen around the reef.
