MLO-Crew
PADI Eco Dive center-Dive North Bali

Our PADI-certified liveaboard crew includes a team of professional dive masters guiding day and night dives throughout your Indonesia diving journey. They bring years of experience, ensuring each dive is safe and follows Green Fin practices to protect our oceans.

Diving facilities

The dive deck (capacity 25 divers) is located on the back of the liveaboard, where every diver has their individual dive station for storing gear and tank refills between dives.

We have two aluminium tender boats to carry up to 8 divers to dive sites. Each is powered by a 100HP four-stroke Yamaha engine.

There is various equipment for rent on the liveaboard, including:

  • 5 Aqualung BCDs (without integrated weight)
  • 5 Aqualung regulators
  • Torches for night dives

The liveaboard has two Bauer compressors, with long hoses that reach around the entire dive deck so tanks can be filled in place. A Renner Nitrox compressor with a membrane system is also onboard, keeping enriched air available throughout the trip.

There are 12-litre tanks onboard, with capacity for 60 to 65 fills a day. Nitrox is free for certified divers.

The liveaboard features an air-conditioned camera room with everything photographers need to prepare equipment between dives, including a work desk, international power outlets, extension cords, lighting, and fans for charging and prepping gear. On the dive deck itself, four labelled rinse tanks keep camera gear, wetsuits, boots, masks, dive computers, and torches separate, with a dedicated table and air gun for drying camera equipment between dives.

Safety Standards

Your safety on every dive is our team’s top priority

01

Diver Tracking Systems

Every guest onboard is given an ENOS dive beacon, listed against their name by serial number, so the crew can quickly track and locate the diver if an incident occurs.

02

Emergency O2 & First Aid Equipment

The liveaboard carries two DAN 4-litre oxygen tanks, one 40-litre oxygen tank, and a defibrillator. The whole dive team is EFR certified, and the crew hold Basic Safety Training.

03

Emergency Action Plan

In the event of an accident, the boat heads to the nearest city, while the crew contacts the emergency contact provided by the diver and coordinates evacuation through their dive insurance.

04

Dive Computer Policy

Dive computers aren’t provided as standard but are available to rent. While guests aren’t required to bring their own, many opt to do so. In the case that a diver is without a computer, extra measures are taken to make sure they are near a buddy or the dive master at all times.

05

Pre-Dive Safety Procedures

During the pre-dive briefing, the cruise director covers the dive site’s highlights, current, and direction, and the dive master gives an in-water update if conditions change. Guests gear up on the tender boat and perform buddy checks before entering the water. Once the group has backrolled in, the dive master signals to begin the descent together.

06

Dive Guide Experience & Guide-to-Diver Ratio

Malaillo’s dive guides are qualified divemasters, three PADI DMs and one SSI DM with many years of liveaboard experience. The maximum guide-to-diver ratio onboard is 1:4 for a personalised and safe experience.

07

Medical / Fitness Requirements

All guests complete a liability release and medical form on their first day onboard, and certifications are checked by the cruise director. For each diver’s safety, the dive masters monitor diving depths: maximum 32 metres for experienced Nitrox divers, 30 metres for certified non-Nitrox divers, and 18 metres for Open Water divers.

08

Equipment Servicing

Dive equipment is serviced once a year, with small parts such as gauge O-rings replaced as needed on a day-to-day basis.

09

Other Safety Highlights

  • Malaillo Liveaboard is for experienced divers, with a minimum of 60 logged dives required to join the cruise. Every trip begins with a no-current check dive, and the cruise director offers one-on-one support if a guest is struggling. There’s currently no in-water refresher offered onboard.
  • All guests are required to carry a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) and surface with it if diving alone.
  • Dive insurance isn’t required, though DAN coverage is recommended.
