A safe and well-prepared journey begins long before Malaillo leaves the harbour. The vessel combines purpose-built safety features, emergency equipment, navigation and communication systems, considered dive procedures, and trained crew support to help guests feel informed, looked after, and comfortable throughout their time at sea.

01

Vessel Safety

Four life rafts with a combined capacity of 60 passengers, and two 7-metre aluminium rigid buoyant boats with Yamaha 100HP engines, are maintained in ready condition at all times. CCTV surveillance across key areas of the vessel ensures continuous crew awareness of the onboard environment.

02

Fire & Emergency Systems

Over 30 firefighting units and portable hydrant units are distributed throughout the vessel, with thermatic extinguishers placed above every engine and electrical system. Smoke detectors and fire alarms are active on all decks, gas leak detectors are installed in both kitchens, and DC inverter emergency lighting is fitted in every cabin and public area.

03

Dive Safety

The ENOS Diver Beacon System provides each diver with a personal electronic GPS transmitter, enabling fast, accurate retrieval in the event of any separation, especially in areas known for stronger currents. The dive team follows carefully considered protocols on every descent.

04

Medical Preparedness

An Automated External Defibrillator, medical-grade oxygen supply, pulse oximeter, and comprehensive first aid kits are maintained on board, alongside trained crew members prepared to assist if care is needed at any point during the voyage.

05

Communication & Navigation

Multiple GPS units, echosounders, and navigation weather software allow the crew to monitor conditions and adjust routing with confidence. A satellite phone and Starlink internet system ensure reliable emergency communication is always available, regardless of location.

06

Backup & Redundancy

Backup power generators, DC emergency lighting systems, spare anchor systems with properly sized chains, onboard water filtration, and additional emergency signalling devices help Malaillo remain prepared across different conditions at sea.
